Symposium (26-28 Sep 2011; Paris, France; CNRS Headquarters) -
attended more than 100 persons from 17 countries from 54 research
organizations, included 36 oral and 20 poster presentations; 6 sessions
including poster session; panel discussions, and final management
meeting. The Symposium was organized in order to present major results
achieved within the MEGAPOLI project; to discuss the issue of
atmospheric pollution in and from megacities with a wider audience of
researchers and end-users; to give a broader picture of research
performed within the field with a particular focus on the Paris
agglomeration (where two major campaigns in July 2009 and Jan-Feb 2010
were conducted); to address the impact of selected European and
worldwide megacities on atmospheric composition, air quality and
climate, including scenarios of future megacity development; to discuss
relevance of the project scientific achievements for decision makers as
well as future key research needs (final summary presentation
by Matthias Beekmann, CNRS-LISA team)
