7 Jan 2009 – MEGAPOLI + FP7 EC CityZen Sister Project Telephone Conference (participated 7 persons). 24-27 Mar 2009 – 7th International Conference on Air Quality - Science and Application (Istanbul, Turkey; http://www.airqualityconference.org). The MEGAPOLI relevant presentation were given at the "Air Quality and Climate/ Meteorology Interactions and Feedbacks" special session organized in cooperation with the EUCAARI, MEGAPOLI, CityZen, COST-728 and other projects. A series of short working meetings on the following research topics: Po Valley focus group; Istanbul megacity study group; Up-scaling (from city to regional and to global scales) modelling; Two-way nesting for street- and city scales; Paris datasets (emission, land-use, monitoring, modelling) and experiment plans; Meteo-measurements for the Paris plume study; Remote sensing and data assimilation (with CityZen); Integrated modelling - joint work - with CHIMERE; Air pollution and ecosystem impact indexes; Urban planning and future scenarios; TNO emission inventory for MEGAPOLI. 7-8 Apr 2009 – Megacity Plume Case Study - campaign planning meeting (Paris, France). The venue had included discussions among participants about chemical and meteorological measurements, practical involvement of other French research teams and authorities (AirParif); discussions between participants and presentations by groups proposing mobile ground based platforms; use of remote sensing instruments; additional stationary lidars and a lidar on a mobile platform operating during the measurement campaign are expected; intercomparison exercise prior to the Paris campaign. 19-24 Apr 2009 – European Geosciences Union, EGU-09 (Vienna, Austria, http://meetings.copernicus.org/egu2009/). MEGAPOLI relevant presentations were given at AS3.8 Special Session on "Megacity Impacts on Regional and Global Scales". 26-27 Nov 2009 – MEGAPOLI Intercomparison Workshop (WP3: Paris Plume Study) in Leipzig, Germany (Institute for Tropospheric Research, IfT) - discussions on Jul 2009 Paris Campaign: presentations of the intercomparison within each instrument group (AMS; SMPS/FMPS; APS/OPC; MAAP/PSAP/aethalometer; gases) and a long-term intercomparison between the MPI stationary and mobile measurements; instrument intercomparison results and conclusions what have learned from the intercomparison activities (all relevant presentations/ materials are placed at internal web-site).

3-4 May 2010 – EGU-2010 Annual General Assembly (2-7 May 2010, Vienna, Austria). On 3rd May - Special joint MILAGRO, CityZen, and MEGAPOLI session "Megacities: Air Quality and Climate Impacts from  Local to Global Scales" (submitted about 80 oral and poster presentations) Convener: L.T. Molina,  Co-Conveners: M. Gauss, A. Baklanov; invited speaker from MEGAPOLI - Dr.  Matthias Beekmann (CNRS-LISA Team): "The Paris MEGAPOLI campaign to better quantify organic aerosol formation in a large agglomeration: first results"; Oral session - from 8.30 till 17.00; and poster session - from 17.00 till 19.00; MEGAPOLI (presentations are available at the internal website). 14-15 Jun 2010 – MEGAPOLI-WP3 French ANR MEGAPARIS meeting (Paris, France); attended about 40 participants representing all groups participating in WP3 as well as other WPs; discussed: scientific questions, presentations by individual groups focusing on instruments deployed/ parameters measured during campaign / highlights, publication strategy, final database issues, common analysis tolls/ data, deliverables; WP3 coordination group meeting (given oral presentations and summary notes are available at internal web-site).

17 Aug 2010 – 5th MEGAPOLI WP Leaders Telephone Conference (participated ). 4-5 Apr 2011 – MEGAPOLI related sessions AS3.6 "Megacities: Air Quality and Climate Impacts from Local to Global Scales" (Convener: Michael Gauss, Co-Conveners: Luisa Molina, Alexander Baklanov) at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2011 (EGU-2011, Vienna, Austria, 3-8 Apr 2011) with invited talk on MEGAPOLI by Spyros Pandis (FORTH Team). On 5th Apr 2011, the MEGAPOLI working meetings with scientific presentations, and progress and finalization of tasks, deliverables, and milestones have been discussed.

26-28 Apr 2011 – WP3: Megacity plume case study meeting/ workshop at Paul Scherrer Institute, PSI (Villigen, Switzerland); attended 50 persons; institutions involved - from LISA, IPLS, INERIS, LSC, Marseille University (France), MPIC (Germany), University of Cork (Ireland), University of Patras (Greece), University of Helsinki (Finland), PSI (Switzerland), DMI/ Technalia (Spain), and others; given presentations included - emissions and source apportionment, gasphase analysis, aerosol chemical speciation, aerosol physics and chemistry, inter-comparison of the measurements, data quality, quantification of uncertainty in the measurements at different sites and modelling (summary notes are available at internal web-site).

30 Apr - 3 May 2011 – International workshop “Integration of geospheres in earth systems: Modern queries to environmental physics, modelling, monitoring & education” and joint meeting of the three projects: EU TEMPUS Qualimet, EU FP-7 projects PBL-PMES and MEGAPOLI, and Russian partner project MEGAPOLIS took place in Dubrovnik, Croatia (given presentations and summary notes are available at the internal website).

16-18 Aug 2011 – Urban Air Quality and Climate Change Workshop, UAQCC (organized jointly with WMO; held in Hamburg, Germany) have focused on the different aspects and interactions of urban air quality and climate change with focus on the urban areas worldwide (more information is available on the workshop web-site: http://www.klimacampus.de/?id=1785).

12-16 Sep 2011 - special session ASI11 "Environmental Meteorology (from local to global)" (serving as a dissemination forum for the COST Actions 728, ES0602 (ENCWF), ES0603 (EUPOL) and ES1004 (EuMetChem), the GMES-projects MACC and FP7 projects MEGAPOLI and PASODOBLE, and EUMETNET WG-ENV) at the 11th Annual Meeting of the European Meteorological Society (EMS-2011) held in Berlin, Germany

26-28 Sep 2011Final MEGAPOLI Symposium (26-28 Sep 2011; Paris, France; attended more than 100 persons from 17 countries from 54 research organizations, 36 oral and 20 poster presentations; 6 sessions including poster sessions; panel discussions, and final management meeting); event was organized in order to present major results achieved within the project; to discuss the issue of atmospheric pollution in and from megacities with a wider audience of researchers and end-users; to give a broader picture of research performed within the field with a particular focus on the Paris agglomeration (where two major campaigns in July 2009 and Jan-Feb 2010 were conducted); to address the impact of selected European and worldwide megacities on atmospheric composition, air quality and climate, including scenarios of future megacity development; to discuss relevance of the project scientific achievements for decision makers as well as future key research needs.
